A Perfect Day in Cabo

This past month, I left the overcast, gloomy skies of Houston and traveled to crystal blue skies of Cabo. I was joined by eleven other ladies to celebrate the very special birthday of my fabulous mother in law!  This was my first trip to the beautiful Mexican destination but it will not be the last. With so much to do, the ideal weather, and the scenic beaches, it is a destination that is perfect for all vacationers, including families. We had a great five day getaway and one perfect day!

The Glass Factory

The perfect day was kicked off with a trip to The Glass Factory to check out the local glassblowing. The views in this factory were as inspiring as the ones found by the water!

These artisans use recycled glass to make their beautiful creations. Our group meandered through the store, shopping, watching the demonstration, and enjoying the lovely stained glass. Most of the us in the group found items we could not resist such as wine glasses, figurines, and even earrings.

Cabo Sailing Ocean Adventures

After completing retail therapy, our group was off to the Marina Cabo de San Lucas for some sun and sea.  We met our captains and boarded a lovely sailboat.  The three man crew were incredibly attentive to our group. As we sailed out of the marina and into the waters of Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortes, they shared interesting details.

The open bar on the ship made our group extra adventurous. The game “drink every time you see a whale” ended fairly quickly as the humpback whales made appearance after appearance!

Seeing the famous Cabo arch from the deck of a sailboat was truly awe-inspiring. It was amazing to see the little beaches, caves and animal life that accompany the arch.

We anchored and lunched at a popular swimming point for snorkelers. Our group enjoyed snorkeling, paddle boarding, sunbathing and just enjoying the lovely day.

Sunset Monalisa

After sailing, we got all dolled up for dinner at the Sunset Monalisa. Its coastal location made it the perfect spot to view the sunset. Fortunately, our reservation time was made with the sunset in mind. And it did not disappoint!

After enjoying the sunshine all day, the lack of it was surprisingly chilly. However, Sunset Monalisa was prepared and had comfortable blankets draped across the backs of each chair.

The menu and drink options were nicely varied, satisfying most preferences. For those of us who struggled with deciding, the wait staff was incredibly helpful and made perfect recommendations. Don’t miss out on the Mexican Coffee-it is a show in itself! (Yes; that’s a flame you see!)

Where We Stayed

With a group as large as ours, we decided to rent a house which definitely made it convenient. In addition to beautiful views, the house had a pool and hot tub to enjoy. We loved the house so much, we declared one day a lazy, pool day. Check it out on VRBO here!

Favorite Accessory

Those who follow me (if you are not, please do here!), know my favorite travel accessory is a book. Unfortunately, the book I had selected for this trip turned out to be a dud. Thankfully, I had Mia Carter’s The Dare to keep me company. Read the full review here.

The favorite accessory to this trip was the fedora I found our first night in the market. I rocked this hat everywhere! Amazon has some awesome ones so you can start your trip fedora in hand – day one!

Cabo was the perfect setting to celebrate a special lady and her milestone birthday. AND she can rock a fedora too!
