If you are a mom juggling work, family and time for yourself, do not pass up “The Overdue Life Of Amy Byler” by Kelly Harms. It is a laugh-filled story of a woman trying to figure out how to be herself.
Three years ago, Amy’s husband, John, suddenly moved to Hong Kong and left her to figure out the next steps as a stay at home mother to their two young kids. Now he has returned and wants to reestablish himself into their life.
I realize I have been driving my life with my body. Trying somehow to carry my worries and sorrows and insecurities on my shoulders, as though I could wad up all the hurt and fear I’ve felt since John moved out, stuff it in a backpack, and hike through life with it.
While the kids become reintroduced to their dad, Amy leans on her two closest (and hilariously quirky!) friends as she becomes reacquainted with herself. Lena, the sharp-tongued former nun, and Talia, the fierce magazine editor, help Amy navigate days no longer filled with a schedule dominated by her kids and work.
I loved this book! It was a beautiful story of family, friendship and love sprinkled with humor and parts that made you check yourself. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
